Reveal

Reveal.

(Το επόμενο "Around the sun" δεν το απόκτησα ποτέ, τους R.E.M.

Γιατί τα λέω όλα αυτά;
Πρώτα ήταν το "Imitation of Life". Μετά το "Leaving N.Y". Ύστερα ήρθε η συναυλία που μου έδειξε το "She just wants to be". Το "Αll the way to Reno", το "I've been high" και τώρα το "The Lifting".

Grounded 5am./ The nightlife is comforting./ But gravity is holding you.
Once you settled into sleep/ You have watched on repeat/ the story of your life
Across the ceiling/ and in review
You've said the air was singing/ it's calling you/ you don't believe
These things you've never seen.

Goodmorning, how are you?
The weather's fine, the sky is blue/ it's perfect for our seminar...

Now close your eyes/ and start to breathe./ Allow the noise to recede
...allow yourself to drift and fly away... but you just stay.

You've said the air was singing/ it's calling you/ you don't believe
These things you've never seen, never dreamed.

Did you hear theses voices calling

Locked in a conference room/ 'we're only what our minds assume
And rationale is leaving you.

This conceit these systems of belief/ Your counselor agrees
"you've always mark these boundaries nou you're free
And with relief.

You've said the air was singing/ it's calling you/ you don't believe
These things you've never seen, never heard, never dreamed.

Never, never, never, never, never.... [X19]

Once you had a dream of oceans and sunken cities
Memories of things you've never known...

"The Lifting is a character I frequently revisit. Here it’s a motivational conference much like what I imagine EST to be, or like the Tom Cruise character in Magnolia [NOT an influence btw. At ALL.]. It teaches you how to dream, how to think or imagine beyond the tangible, for those who cannot. Eventually, because of pressure and humiliation, she lies to feel a part of the seminar, to not insult, and mainly because she wants to believe. But in fact, she never took off, never lifted. The seminar is a failure. Deep inside, a part of her knows that she has the capacity, because of dreams she’s had of places she’s never seen. That’s the prologue, and the hope"
